My people, a name given by Jehovah to the people of Israel (Hosea 2:1, 23. Comp. 1:9; Ezekiel 16:8; Romans 9:25, 26; 1 Peter 2:10).

A person mentioned in Song of Solomon 6:12, whose chariots were famed for their swiftness. It is rendered in the margin "my willing people," and in the Revised Version "my princely people."

(Solomon 6:12) It is uncertain whether we ought to read here AMMINADIB, with the Authorized Version, or my willing people , as in the margin. People of the Almighty, the father of Ahiezer, who was chief of the Danites at the time of the Exodus (Numbers 1:12; 2:25). This is one of the few names compounded with the name of God, Shaddai, "Almighty."

AM'MITE, or HAM'MITE, noun [Gr. sand.]

A sand-stone or free-stone, of a pale brown color, very heavy, of a lax texture, composed of small round granules, cemented by an earthy sparry matter. The grit or granules are small stalagmites, composed of crusts or coats including one another. It is the roe-stone or oolite of recent authors.
